Plate 01 — The last line home
I asked one question before every photograph: where are you going? Nobody gave the same answer twice.
Plate 02 — Porte de Clichy, 1:40 a.m.
Twelve nights
The bus leaves every twenty minutes after midnight. I rode it end to end with one camera and a small flash, and sat wherever there was a seat.
Most people said no, and that was fine. The ones who said yes looked straight into the lens, as if they had been waiting to be asked.
Plate 04 — Last stop
Plate 03 — The back row
“Everyone on the last bus is going home, or leaving it.”
— Inès Moreau
Plate 06 — Morning, the depot
Notes
Shot on a Leica M6 with a 35mm lens and a small flash, Ilford HP5 pushed to 1600, printed on fibre paper.
