Tomato Season
August in Puglia, when everything is red for a week. A family farm, a heatwave and a wardrobe of linen and lace.

Plate 01 — The harvest table
The harvest started at five, before the heat. By noon the crates were stacked in the shade and nobody spoke above a whisper.
Plate 02 — The first crates
One long week
We stayed with the family who grows tomatoes for half the town. Every morning the long table filled with crates, and every afternoon it emptied into jars.
The palette made itself — red fruit, white walls, one blue door. We dressed Aurora in cream and let the tomatoes carry the colour.
Plate 04 — Jars for the winter
Plate 03 — Noon, in the shade
“Everything in that kitchen was red, even the light.”

Plate 06 — The last basket
Notes
Shot on a Pentax 67 with a 105mm lens, four rolls of Kodak Portra 160, developed in Bari and scanned in Paris.
